Our History
1992
WFW Formed
Local Pensacola men and women saw a need for an organized membership to pursue common cycling goals. They reached out to the League of American Wheelmen and became a 501(c)(4) non-profit to benefit Pensacola bike racers, touring cyclists and cycling advocates and formed the West Florida Wheelmen.

Joining Forces
The West Florida Wheelmen embraced members from Team Mayo and Firestone and Summit Cyclists. Blackwater Cycling (our sister group) of Milton, FL was formed to assist rural cyclists in Santa Rosa County.

Ride of Silence
Through the vision of Vicki Grooters after losing her husband, Roger, in a tragic bike crash, the West Florida Wheelmen began hosting the annual Ride of Silence.

Eastern Shore Cyclists
Eastern Shore Cyclists became an important part of the West Florida Wheelmen. Members from Fairhope, Daphne and Gulf Shores, AL routinely participate in WFW rides.
